BMW EV deliveries jump 37.5% in Europe in Q3 as the iX3 passes 100,000 orders
BMW Group delivered 110,257 electric cars in the third quarter, up 7.2% year on year. In Europe growth hit 37.5% and more than one in three cars delivered was electric.

BMW Group delivered 110,257 electric cars worldwide in the third quarter, 7.2% more than a year earlier, reports "electrive". That reverses the trend of the first half, when BEV deliveries had fallen 7.4%.
Europe does the heavy lifting
In Europe the group delivered 81,941 EVs in Q3, up 37.5%. Germany grew 38.5%. EVs reached a 34.7% share of European deliveries, more than one car in three. The figures cover BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce.
The numbers
- global BEV share in Q3: 20%, one car in five;
- January–September: 314,552 EVs, down 2.7% year on year, plus 131,650 plug-in hybrids;
- MINI: 37.2% electric out of 220,247 cars in nine months, roughly 82,000;
- total Q3 deliveries: 551,072 cars (−6.3%), with China down 24.8%.
The iX3 effect
"The continued strength in new orders for our fully electric vehicles confirms our course," said Jochen Goller, BMW's board member for sales, who also pointed to strong interest in the new 3 Series and X5. The growth driver is the new iX3, the first Neue Klasse model, which has collected more than 100,000 orders in Europe within a year. Meanwhile the iX4 has been unveiled, the i3 electric sedan has launched, and a China-specific iX3 arrives in November. For comparison, only one in eight cars the Volkswagen Group delivered in Q3 was electric, and one in six at Mercedes-Benz. China remains BMW's weak spot, with deliveries there down 21.8% over nine months.
