Privacy & cookie policy
What data is processed when you read notateslakiller.com, which cookies we use (and only with your consent), how long they last and how to change your choice.
In short: NotATeslaKiller is a news site with no accounts, comments or forms. We don't ask for your name or e-mail. Some technical data inevitably reaches our hosting provider. Google Analytics and Google AdSense are loaded only if you accept, and until then your browser requests nothing from them.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Andrei Petcu, author of notateslakiller.com, based in Iași, Romania.
Contact for any question or request about personal data: through our YouTube channel, Mașina Timpului (@NotATeslaKiller) (a dedicated e-mail address will be published here soon)
What data is processed and why
1. Hosting and security (Cloudflare Pages)
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, when you open a page your browser sends some technical data to Cloudflare's servers:
- your IP address;
- the date and time;
- the page requested;
- your browser and device type;
- the page you came from.
Cloudflare uses this data to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. We don't use it to identify you.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Cookies: the site sets no cookies of its own. In some situations Cloudflare may set a technical security cookie (for example
__cf_bm, used to filter automated traffic).
2. Embedded YouTube videos
Some articles include YouTube players. We load them from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube's "privacy-enhanced mode"). The home page also shows thumbnails served by YouTube (i.ytimg.com).
- What is sent: when a player or thumbnail loads, your browser connects to Google/YouTube servers, which receive your IP address and browser details.
- Cookies: according to Google, in this mode YouTube doesn't store information about a visitor unless they play the video.
- When you press play: Google's privacy policy applies and YouTube may set its own cookies.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing video content related to the articles. Playback only starts when you choose.
3. Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent)
If you accept the "Analytics" category, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how many visits the site gets and which articles are read. Without consent, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all.
- What it collects:
- the pages you visit and how long you stay;
- where the traffic came from, for example Google or Facebook;
- your device and browser type;
- your approximate country or city;
- a pseudonymous identifier, stored in the
_gacookie. - IP addresses: according to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- What we see: statistical reports only, not your identity.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time.
4. Google AdSense ads (only with your consent)
The site may show ads through Google AdSense. If you accept the "Advertising" category, Google may use cookies and identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and measure results. If you have ad personalisation turned on in your Google account, Google may also use this data for interest-based ads.
- Without consent: the AdSense script is not loaded at all, so you see no Google ads.
- Google's role: for this processing Google largely acts as an independent controller. Details: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Legal basis: your consent.
5. Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links, marked in the text as "(affiliate link)". Examples: the iHunt link, through the 2Performant network, or the T-Launch mattress link. If you buy something after clicking such a link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
The link sets no cookies on our site. After you click, though, the affiliate network or the shop may set cookies on their own domain to attribute the order. Those are covered by their own privacy policies.
What we don't do
- No user accounts, comments, newsletter or forms.
- We don't sell data.
- Fonts are hosted on our own server, not on Google Fonts.

How long data is kept
- Your cookie choice: 12 months in your browser, then we ask again. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Google Analytics: we will set data retention to 14 months at most. The
_gacookie expires after 2 years if you don't come back. - Google advertising cookies: up to 13 months, as in the table above.
- Technical hosting data: processed by Cloudflare for delivery and security and kept under Cloudflare's policies. We don't keep server logs of our own.
Who else receives data, and transfers outside the EU
- Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting, delivery, security);
- Google (YouTube; and, only with your consent, Google Analytics and Google AdSense). For users in the European Economic Area, the services are provided by Google Ireland Limited.
Both companies may transfer data to the United States. Cloudflare and Google LLC are both certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing an adequate level of protection. Both also use the Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right:
- to know what data about you we process and get a copy (access);
- to have it corrected or erased;
- to restrict processing;
- to object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- to data portability, where it applies;
- to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing doesn't affect processing done before.
Because we don't ask for your name or e-mail, we usually can't link technical data to a specific person. You can still write to us, and we'll reply within one month. For data held by Google you can also use Google's own tools: Google Account and My Ad Center.
Complaints to ANSPDCP
If you're in Romania and believe your data is processed unlawfully, you can file a complaint with Romania's data protection authority, ANSPDCP (Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal):
- address: B-dul G-ral. Gheorghe Magheru 28–30, Sector 1, postal code 010336, Bucharest;
- e-mail: [email protected];
- website: www.dataprotection.ro.
If you live in another EU country, you can also contact the authority there.
How to change your choice
The "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page reopens the consent window, where you can accept, reject or choose by category. The button below does the same.
If you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics and AdSense cookies set on our domain and reload the page, so the scripts stop running. Cookies that Google sets on its own domains (for example doubleclick.net) can only be removed in your browser settings.
Changes
If we change how we process data, for example when we actually turn on Google Analytics or AdSense, or switch consent tools, we'll update this page and the date below. If the change is significant, we'll ask for your consent again.
