Citroën 2CV returns as a ~€15,000 electric car for 2028
Citroën showed an electric 2CV concept: 3.76 m long, around 1,000 kg, a roll-back fabric roof and a target price of about €15,000. Launch is planned for 2028.

Citroën unveiled an electric 2CV concept ahead of the Paris Motor Show. The brand says it wants it on sale in 2028, from "around €15,000", according to "Electrek".
Small, light and cheap
- 3.76 m long, slightly shorter than the original 2CV;
- target weight of about 1,000 kg, lighter than a current Mazda MX-5;
- a large fabric roof that rolls all the way back;
- a sparse cabin: a small screen on the steering column, a wide dash display and a removable radio module.
Citroën has not shared motor or battery data yet. "Electrek" expects the 2CV to slot between the Ami and the C3; small urban EVs of this kind usually carry around 30 kWh and about 250 km of range.
Why it matters
The original 2CV was built from 1948 to 1990, in the millions, as France's simple, affordable car. The new concept tries the same recipe with batteries: few bespoke parts, low cost. A new €15,000 EV would fill a real gap in Europe, where the Dacia Spring is almost alone below that price.
Citroën says the 2CV will be built in Europe. The concept still wears 19-inch wheels and bright colours, so expect a calmer production version.
