Tesla now has Halloween Mode: your car becomes a ghost, and Trick or Treat spooks visitors with sounds and lights
Update 2026.38.3 brings a Halloween mode with a ghost avatar, a graveyard scene, a light show, themed wraps and a scary voice for Boombox. The first installs are showing up in Europe too.

After Santa Mode, Tesla has a second holiday mode: Halloween Mode. It has started reaching owners with update 2026.38.3, and the official notes invite you to "spread holiday fear year round."
What it does
- Ghost costume. The car on screen is draped in a white sheet with eyes. In Park, the backdrop becomes a graveyard with a full moon, a haunted house and glowing jack-o'-lanterns.
- On the road, other cars in the visualization turn green, pedestrians become skeletons, and with FSD (Supervised) the path turns purple.
- Trick or Treat. A spookier take on Sentry Mode: when someone approaches, the car plays creepy sounds and flickers its lights, while still recording.
- Extras: a Halloween light show, new lock sounds, themed wraps (for example black with ghosts and bats), Photobooth with stickers, and a scary voice for Boombox when you talk through the app.
Which cars, and where
The 3D Park scene needs the AMD Ryzen infotainment computer. For Intel-based cars, Drive Tesla writes that they get the rest of the features, but Not a Tesla App says Tesla hasn't confirmed that yet.
The update isn't US-only: Teslascope has logged the first installs in the UK, Spain and Germany. There's no separate confirmation for Romania, but it should arrive with the European wave.
The notes don't say exactly where to find the mode. Santa Mode lives in Toybox, and Not a Tesla App expects Halloween Mode to stay there after October.
