Tesla has confirmed the exact time of the new Roadster reveal. In an X post overnight, the official "Tesla" account wrote: "Roadster event streaming live this Thursday at 7:55pm CST". The event streams live on Thursday, October 15, at 7:55pm Texas time.

Watch live: Tesla's stream on X, the official link Tesla shared in its "Roadster event livestream" post. It is also on livestream.tesla.com. Kick-off is 7:55pm Central on Thursday (00:55 UTC Friday).

Update: Musk promises "a BANGER"

With only hours to go, Elon Musk is turning the excitement up another notch. On X he called the new Roadster "a candidate for greatest product demo of all time", then added: "Let's just say that this demo will be a BANGER, probably metaphorically, though some chance literally".

"Teslarati" links the joke to the SpaceX option package first promised back in 2018. According to reports Tesla has not confirmed, it would use cold-gas thrusters fed by a pressure vessel like the ones on Falcon 9. We will find out tonight what Tesla actually shows, but it is shaping up to be anything but a routine launch.

When to watch in Europe

7:55pm in Texas is 00:55 UTC on Friday, October 16: 2:55am in Central Europe and 3:55am in Romania. Europeans will need a late night or the replay. The stream runs on Tesla's X account, right here.

What the teaser shows

The image in the post shows the rear of a sports car, with a full-width red light bar and four beams of light shooting upward. Beneath it: "Livestream 10.15.26, 7:55PM CST". The full car is not shown yet.

Why the hype

The event was originally set for October 1, but Tesla postponed it because of the weather, with Elon Musk citing "strong winds". That fed speculation about an unusual demo, possibly even short "flights", which we covered when the delay was announced. The Roadster was shown as a prototype in 2017 and promised for 2020, so on Thursday we should finally see the production version.
