Tesla Semi Canada: MCS Megachargers in B.C., dedicated program lead
Tesla hires Daniel Valadares as Semi Programs lead for Canada. R.R. Plett Trucking starts Canada’s first MCS Megachargers in Langley and Kamloops for ~12 Semis due by June 2027.
Tesla is lining up people and plugs for the Semi in Canada. Daniel Valadares rejoined in September as Semi Programs – Business Development Lead for Canada, and R.R. Plett Trucking is putting in the country’s first Megawatt Charging System (MCS) Megachargers in British Columbia.
Who’s leading the Canadian Semi push
Valadares previously built much of Tesla’s Canadian Supercharger footprint — more than 45 large projects and roughly 1,000 stalls — before leaving in 2024 for fleet-electrification firm 7Gen. He’s back as the dedicated Canadian business-development lead for the Semi and was at Tesla’s Nevada Semi factory rollout last week.
Langley and Kamloops: first MCS in Canada
R.R. Plett Trucking is installing MCS Megachargers at its Langley HQ and its Kamloops site. Electric Autonomy, citing COO Trevor Plett, puts peak power at up to 1.2 MW; the units are meant for Class 8 electric trucks and should cut charge time enough to support double shifts.
Plett has 12 Tesla Semis on order, with deliveries expected by June 2027. Longer term, the firm has talked about further sites toward a Vancouver–Calgary corridor (Golden, Calgary).
Still to clear
Transport Canada certification for the Semi remains outstanding; Tesla has not published a Canadian on-sale date. This Canadian fleet-and-Megacharger track is separate from US commercial Semi orders.
