BMW iX4 officially revealed: an electric SUV coupé with up to 828 km WLTP, 400 kW charging and a 612 hp M60
The new iX4 starts at €70,900 in Germany, goes on sale in March 2027 and is built in Debrecen, Hungary, on the same line as the iX3.

BMW has officially revealed the new iX4, the electric SUV coupé that replaces the X4. The images that leaked earlier this week were accurate: the iX4 is the lower-roofed version of the iX3, built on the Neue Klasse platform with sixth-generation eDrive and an 800 V electrical system. Every version has one motor on each axle, so all of them are all-wheel drive.
Three versions
| Version | Power | 0–100 km/h | Battery (net) | WLTP range | DC charging |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iX4 40 xDrive | 275 kW (374 hp) | 5.6 s | 82.6 kWh | up to 638 km | 300 kW |
| iX4 50 xDrive | 345 kW (469 hp) | 4.9 s | 108.7 kWh | up to 828 km | 400 kW |
| iX4 M60 xDrive | 450 kW (612 hp) | 3.9 s | 108.7 kWh | up to 777 km | 400 kW |
Both batteries charge from 10 to 80% in 21 minutes at 800 V stations. In 10 minutes, the iX4 50 xDrive adds up to 387 km of range. At home it charges at 11 kW AC (22 kW optional), and it can also send power back out to devices, a house or the grid.
The range-topping M60 has 875 Nm, a 240 km/h top speed, adaptive M suspension, an M limited-slip differential on the rear axle and 21-inch wheels. Every iX4 comes standard with the M Sport package, 20-inch wheels and a panoramic glass roof.
The iX4 is 4.78 m long, 1.90 m wide and 1.60 m tall, with a 2.90 m wheelbase. The boot holds 490 to 1,600 litres.
Price and launch
In Germany, the iX4 40 xDrive starts at €70,900 and the 50 xDrive at €75,900. The first two versions go on sale in March 2027, and the M60 can be ordered from January 2027. The M60's price and Romanian pricing haven't been announced yet.
Built close to Romania
Like the iX3, the iX4 is built at BMW's Debrecen plant in eastern Hungary, close to the Romanian border. We covered iX3 demand and the plant's pace in our article on BMW's Neue Klasse plans.
