Dacia is coming to the Paris Motor Show with two premieres: the second-generation Spring, its electric city car, and the Striker, a C-segment crossover. The press conference is on October 12 at 9:00 a.m. (10:00 Romanian time) in Hall 6, and it will be streamed live. The public can see the cars from October 13 to 18.

The new Spring: built in Europe, 250 km

The new Spring is all-new and no longer comes from China: it's built at Renault's Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, on the group's small RGEV platform.

  • Motor: 60 kW (80 hp) and 175 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 12.1 seconds, 130 km/h top speed
  • Battery: LFP, 27.5 kWh usable, up to 250 km WLTP
  • Charging: 6.6 kW AC
  • Size: 15 cm longer and 18 cm wider than the current car, with a 337-litre boot plus an optional 18-litre frunk
  • Trims: Expression and Journey, both with the same motor and battery

Dacia says the Expression starts under €18,000 and that the whole range sits below €20,000. In Germany, orders opened on September 15 from €17,900, with deliveries from December. Romanian pricing hasn't been announced yet.

Striker: a 4.62 m crossover

The Striker sits next to the Bigster in the C segment, but it's lower and longer: 4.62 m long, 1.53 m tall, with 19–20 cm of ground clearance. Prices start under €25,000. It's built in Turkey, not Romania.

There's no electric version. It comes as a mild hybrid-G 140 (petrol and LPG), a hybrid 155 or a hybrid 150 4x4 with an electric motor on the rear axle. The boot holds up to 600 litres, and the drag coefficient is 0.29.

What else Dacia is bringing

The Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Jogger get the hybrid 155 powertrain, so every non-electric Dacia now has a hybrid version. The Duster and Bigster are shown with the hybrid 150 4x4 system.

Paris is also a show for Chinese brands. Here's what XPENG, Leapmotor, Li Auto and the others are bringing, which is exactly the competition the new Spring faces.
