Porsche 911 GT3 Engine Sound

Porsche 911 GT3 sound simulator for your EV: your phone or the car's browser reads speed from GPS and plays real recordings of a 911 GT3 (997) flat-six, from idle to around 8,000 rpm, with a 6-speed manual.

How to use it

  1. Open the page on your phone (connected to the car via Bluetooth) or in the car's browser.
  2. Tap “Enable GPS” and allow location access.
  3. Tap “Start engine”. As the car speeds up, rpm rises and the gearbox shifts by itself.
  4. Parked? Use the “Test without GPS” slider to hear the engine.

What you hear, honestly

The sound comes from real recordings of a 997-generation Porsche 911 GT3, nothing computer-generated. We cut eight steady-rpm pieces (idle ~860, 1,600, 2,550, 4,100, 5,000, 5,700, 7,000 and ~8,000 rpm, estimated from the firing frequency) and looped them seamlessly. The page crossfades between them by rpm, so the sound is altered as little as possible. The highest recorded rpm is around 8,000: above that, up to 9,000, the page only speeds up the last piece slightly. The profile (9,000 rpm redline, approximate 6-speed manual ratios, 305/30 R19 tyres) is approximate. Gentle acceleration shifts at about 3,300 rpm, hard acceleration near the redline, with a short rpm drop on every shift. GPS lags by about a second and only knows speed, not how hard you press the pedal.

Safety

The sound plays only inside the car. Keep the volume low enough to still hear traffic, sirens and the car's warnings, and don't touch the page while driving: set it up before you leave. Keep your attention on the road.
