Leapmotor delivered 105,656 cars in September, the best month in the company's history. That's up 58.5% from September last year and 2.45% from August. It's also the third month in a row that Leapmotor has topped 100,000 deliveries, after 101,267 in July and 103,129 in August. The figures were released on October 1 and reported by CnEVPost and CarNewsChina.

The brand may still be unfamiliar to many drivers, but you can already buy one in Romania. Leapmotor sells in Europe through Leapmotor International, a joint venture controlled by Stellantis, the group behind Peugeot, Fiat, Opel and Citroën.

In CarNewsChina's ranking of Chinese electric and plug-in hybrid carmakers, Leapmotor was second in September, behind BYD and well ahead of Changan Nevo (45,607) and Xpeng (41,256).

In just nine months, Leapmotor has already delivered more cars than in all of 2025, when it reached 596,555. Its target for 2026 is 1 million cars, and it has already covered 66.7% of it. To hit the goal, it needs to deliver 333,461 cars in the final quarter, or about 111,000 a month, above September's record level.

Exports are accelerating

The most interesting part for European buyers is exports. More than 27,000 cars left China in September, a new monthly record. The previous high this year was 21,000 in June, and in August Leapmotor exported 18,255 cars, according to CnEVPost data.

Leapmotor says its European sales and service network has passed 1,000 locations and that it will be at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.

Leapmotor International was set up by Stellantis and Leapmotor and is based in Amsterdam. Stellantis owns 51% and Leapmotor 49%. The company handles Leapmotor's exports and sales outside China, using the dealer network of Stellantis brands.

Romania was on the list of first European markets announced by Stellantis in September 2024. There, the importer is AutoGreen Motor, part of the AutoItalia group, which sells the cars through dealers in its network. The first model launched was the T03 electric city car, at €19,900 including VAT, followed by the C10 electric SUV. In July 2026 came the B10 Hybrid EV, a compact SUV with a range extender, meaning a 1.5-litre petrol engine that only recharges the battery. According to the importer, its list price starts at €25,990 including VAT through Romania's Rabla scrappage programme.

What's next

Leapmotor founder and CEO Zhu Jiangming announced on September 17 that the company's second brand will debut and start deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2027.

What it means for drivers

For buyers in Romania and across Europe, Leapmotor is one of the most interesting Chinese names precisely because it doesn't come alone. Selling and servicing the cars through Stellantis-linked networks addresses one of the biggest worries about new Chinese brands: where you take the car for service and how long you wait for parts. With more than 1,000 locations in Europe and volumes growing this fast, Leapmotor is clearly not an experiment. What remains to be seen is which new models it brings to Paris, and whether its European prices stay this aggressive.
