Renault Scenic E-Tech 2027: 89 kWh battery, up to 392 miles WLTP in the UK and 15–80% charging in 28 minutes
The Scenic E-Tech gets an 89 kWh NMC battery, quicker DC charging (15–80% in 28 minutes instead of 37), Google Gemini and more driver assistance. UK orders opened on October 1. Which figures apply where, and what we know about Romania.

Renault has updated the Scenic E-Tech, the compact electric family SUV that won European Car of the Year 2024. The headline change is an 89 kWh NMC battery that adds range and, more importantly for long trips, cuts fast-charging time. UK orders for what Renault UK calls the 2027 model opened on October 1. In France, the update has been available to order since September.
The key numbers
| Updated Scenic E-Tech (89 kWh) | |
|---|---|
| Battery | 89 kWh NMC (Auto Express says the outgoing pack was 87 kWh) |
| Motor | 160 kW (220 hp), 300 Nm |
| WLTP range (UK) | up to 392 miles (~631 km) for Techno; 385 miles (~620 km) for Techno Esprit Alpine; 382 miles (~615 km) for Iconic Esprit Alpine |
| WLTP range (Renault global release) | "up to 642 km" |
| DC charging | 150 kW peak; 15–80% in 28 minutes (down from 37 minutes) |
| AC charging | 11 kW as standard, with battery preconditioning |
Why two range figures? Renault's global release of September 1 quotes "up to 642 km WLTP", while Renault UK gives 392 miles (about 631 km) for British cars. Renault doesn't explain the gap. The most likely reason is market-specific trims and wheels (UK cars are right-hand drive, with different equipment), but that's our inference. For a car bought in Romania or elsewhere in the EU, the figure that counts is the one on the homologation sheet of the exact version.
The real gain is in charging. Peak power stays at 150 kW, but the charging curve is better: 15–80% now takes 28 minutes, 9 minutes less than before. Renault says DC fast-charging time is down by 25%. On a long trip, that means shorter breaks at every stop.
What else is new
- Software and connectivity: Google Gemini in the openR link system (optional, in place of Google Assistant), more detailed route planning in Google Maps (charging network, power, payment method) and a ventilated 15 W Qi2 wireless charger.
- Smart Mode: a new drive mode that switches automatically between Eco, Comfort and Sport depending on how you drive.
- Driver assistance: Renault UK says Active Driver Assist, blind-spot warning, rear automatic emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert are now standard across the range. The global release also mentions adaptive cruise control that tracks several vehicles at once, plus an emergency stop if the driver stops responding.
- Design: new 19- and 20-inch wheels, two new colours (Satin Slate Blue and Exo Galaxy Grey) and new interior trim.
Renault has also announced a 67 kWh LFP version with up to 467 km WLTP and 15–80% in 24 minutes, at up to 165 kW DC. It goes on sale in France this autumn from €31,750 after the French incentive.
Prices: UK and France
UK pricing is unchanged from before the update. According to Auto Express, after the £3,750 Electric Car Grant the Scenic costs £33,245 for Techno, £36,245 for Techno Esprit Alpine and £38,245 for Iconic Esprit Alpine.
In France, Renault quotes the long-range Techno from €38,750, or €270 a month on a lease. That price includes a theoretical French incentive (CEE) of up to €8,240, so it doesn't compare directly with other countries.
And in Romania?
As of October 2, Renault Romania's price page lists the Scenic E-Tech from €46,450 (Techno, 220 hp "extended range" version), with WLTP range of 622 km for Techno and 609 km for Esprit Alpine. Those ranges are below the 89 kWh figures, which suggests (our inference, not a confirmation) that the listed offer is still the previous version. Renault Romania hasn't yet published a price or launch date for the updated car. We'll add them when they appear.
What it means for drivers
- Charging matters more than the extra range. A few dozen extra kilometres of range is nice, but 28 minutes instead of 37 for 15–80% makes a difference at every motorway stop.
- If you're buying a Scenic now in Romania, ask the dealer which battery version you'll get and when the new specification arrives. The difference could matter at resale. To compare WLTP figures with each other and with other test cycles, see our guide to WLTP, CLTC and EPA range.
- Don't compare French or UK prices directly with Romanian ones. They include local incentives worth thousands of euros or pounds.
