Zeekr updates its volume SUV: what changes on the 7X before it reaches you

China pre-orders are open for the 2027 Zeekr 7X. Every trim moves to a 900 V electrical architecture, a new mid-size battery joins the range, and comfort plus driver assistance get standard upgrades. What is confirmed and what it means for Europe.

Zeekr opened China pre-orders on Thursday, 5 November for the 2027 model-year 7X. This is not a clean-sheet car. It is a meaningful refresh of the SUV that already accounts for roughly a third of the brand's deliveries. Three changes stand out: a 900 V electrical architecture on every trim, a new 85 kWh battery between the two older packs, and a comfort-and-assistance package that becomes standard on more versions.

Why the 7X matters to Zeekr

According to figures compiled by "CnEVPost", the model delivered 86,806 units from January through September 2026, about 30% of Zeekr's total in that period. September alone saw more than 12,000 handovers. When a volume SUV gets 900 V across the range and a new battery step, it is not a cosmetic facelift. It is a signal that Zeekr intends to keep this car competitive in China, where product cycles move fast.

The official China launch is still due in the fourth quarter. Buyers who place a 2,000-yuan deposit now receive a 7,000-yuan credit until launch, according to promotional materials cited by "CnEVPost" and "Inside China Auto". Individual trim prices have not been published yet; only the pre-sale starting threshold has been confirmed, unchanged from the current car.

Three trims, three batteries

The Chinese line-up has three steps: rear-drive Max, rear-drive Max+ and all-wheel-drive Ultra.

According to "Inside China Auto" and "CarNewsChina":

  • Max – 75 kWh pack, 370 kW rear motor, 620 km CLTC range
  • Max+ – new 85 kWh pack, still 370 kW, 680 km CLTC; optional 103 kWh lifts that to 802 km CLTC
  • Ultra – 103 kWh pack, 585 kW AWD system, 0–100 km/h in 2.98 s, 715 km CLTC range

The 75 and 85 kWh packs are LFP "Golden Brick" / Energee units with a claimed peak charge rate of 5.5C and a 10–80% window of 10.5 minutes. The 103 kWh pack is a CATL Qilin ternary battery rated at 6C and 10 minutes on the same window. Those figures need compatible chargers and test conditions; on the road, weather, driving style and the stall's real power matter just as much.

What changes versus the 7X you already know

The European car we tested on Romanian national roads sits on an 800 V architecture. The China refresh moves the whole line to 900 V for the motor, power electronics and thermal management. For the driver, the difference shows up mainly at very powerful chargers: at the same power, a higher-voltage system draws lower current, so the cable and pack heat up less.

On comfort, "CarNewsChina" lists front "zero-gravity" / Cloud-Sense seats, active road-noise cancellation (RNC) and CCD electromagnetic dampers as standard. Safety gains a tyre-blowout stability system, also listed as standard. Driver assistance moves to G-ASD / G-Pilot 4.1, with navigation-assisted driving and parking-space-to-parking-space routes; a roof lidar remains part of the sensor set.

Exterior design changes little: two new colours ("Dawn Gold" and "Cloud Amber Red"), while the cabin gets finish upgrades and a new upholstery theme. Dimensions stay familiar at about 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and a 2,925 mm wheelbase, according to "Inside China Auto".

When the tech might reach Europe

Zeekr has not announced a European calendar for the 2027 model year. In Romania the 7X is already on sale, and on the Mașina Timpului channel we published a real-world national-road efficiency test and a parking and charging-planner test. If the 900 V upgrade and the 85 kWh pack make it into the European specification, long trips will gain shorter stops at high-power sites. Until then, what was announced applies to China.

What it means for drivers

If you are shopping for a Zeekr 7X now, treat the news as a direction of travel: the brand is investing in its volume model, not walking away from it. Before you order, ask the dealer which battery generation and electrical architecture the stock car uses, and which software updates are promised.

If you already drive one, do not expect a 900 V conversion kit. Refreshes like this stay on new cars. You can still watch which assistance features might arrive through OTA updates on the current generation.

If you are comparing large electric SUVs, the 85 kWh step is interesting: it fills the gap between the small and large packs without forcing you straight to the most expensive battery. China CLTC ranges are optimistic versus WLTP; for Europe, wait for homologated figures.

For charging, remember the rule we explained in our guide to volts, amps and connector limits: brochure peak power only appears on compatible stalls, with a warm battery and enough current.

In short, the 2027 7X is Zeekr doubling down on the SUV that already carries a large share of its sales: higher voltage, a smarter battery ladder and more standard comfort kit. Europe will have to wait for the local specification, but the Chinese launch shows where the brand is heading.
