Fiat Koala: a new electric city car on the Citroën 2CV platform, due in 2028
Fiat is preparing the Koala, a small, affordable electric car built on the same platform as the new Citroën 2CV. Launch is planned for 2028, and the reported price target is around 15,000 euros.

Fiat has a new electric city car in the works, and its name is already chosen: Koala. According to "electrive" and Fiat executives speaking to "Autocar", the car will use the same platform as the new Citroën 2CV and is due in 2028. Stellantis has not yet issued an official statement on the model.
A new name in the Fiat family
Fiat has trademarked the Koala name. Brand boss Arnauld Belloni summed up the brand's plans: "We have a Koala, a Panda and a Grizzly." The Koala was not shown at the Paris Motor Show, but design chief François Leboine said the project is as far along as the 2CV revealed there.

Sharing a platform with the Citroën 2CV
The Koala is part of Stellantis' E-car family of small cars. According to Ned Curic, quoted by "Autoplus/L'argus", the platform is co-developed with Chinese partner Leapmotor. Italian press reports that production could take place at Pomigliano in Italy.

What it could cost
For the E-car family, the reported price target is around 15,000 euros. The figure is not officially confirmed for the Koala. Meanwhile, the combustion Panda stays in the range, so the Koala arrives as an extra option rather than an immediate replacement.

What it means for drivers
- More affordable EVs: the Koala joins a generation of small cars designed around lower prices.
- Shared group technology: the same platform as the 2CV means shared costs and common components.
- The 15,000-euro price is a reported target, not an official figure. We are waiting for Fiat's announcement.
