Subaru goes all-electric in Europe from 2028: Uncharted, Solterra and E-Outback remain
Subaru is phasing out its boxer-engined models in Europe. From 2028, the European range will consist of just three electric SUVs: Uncharted, Solterra and E-Outback.

Subaru is going fully electric in Europe. According to Subaru Deutschland, speaking to "auto motor und sport" and as reported by "electrive", the boxer-engined models are being phased out of the European range, and from 2028 only three electric SUVs will remain: the Uncharted, Solterra and E-Outback.
The timeline for leaving the boxer behind
The first to go is the Outback with the 2.5 boxer, which leaves sales in 2026. The Impreza, Crosstrek and Forester follow in 2027. From 2028, Subaru's European range will be electric only. The brand cites ever-stricter EU rules on CO₂ emissions, safety and driver assistance systems.

Three electric SUVs, all-wheel drive available
All three models are developed with Toyota. The Solterra shares its base with the bZ4X, the E-Outback is related to the bZ4X Touring, and the most compact, the Uncharted, is based on the C-HR+. That way Subaru keeps what it is known for, practical SUVs for the road and light off-road, now with fully electric drive.

What comes after 2028
According to "electrive", Subaru is also preparing its own EV platform around 2029. It is expected to use Aisin motors, Panasonic batteries and all-wheel drive of around 375 kW. Details are not yet official for Europe.
